About
Welcome to TotoGEO. "Toto" signifies universal in Latin, and GEO stands for Global Education and Outreach. Our mission is to serve the world's rural communities by bridging the content divide. This divide exists because most of the world's impactful content is either produced in unusable formats, or in languages not understood by rural communities, especially where literacy is low. We apply cutting-edge technologies to gather and widely disseminate impactful educational materials, irrespective of language, format or audience. Heavily relying on management science and content automation, we enable others to share relevant and reliable knowledge needed by rural residents and researchers with rapid feedback on challenges in the field. Please watch the videos on this page to learn more about our achievements and vision.

Please feel free to use all of the information on our dashboard. Check back often as some information is updated on a daily basis (e.g. news, weather). Some sections are updated on an annual basis or as new information becomes available (e.g. data, maps, soil, directory). The sources or references for all of the information are located towards the bottom of each page or adjacent to the information. You can also find a section to leave comments at the bottom of certain pages. Languages can be changed at the top of the page (some text has not yet been translated or edited, but this is improving over time). Within some pages, you can change the geography or the subjects covered. Buttons are provided to jump to text without using the search box. A mobile Android edition is coming soon. Enjoy!

WordPress is a very user-friendly system for creating web sites and has a number of options available, including various widgets and plugins. If you are not familiar with WordPress, it will be very easy to find someone who does who can help you. Additional documentation is available here. Second, if you are fluent in a local language, you volunteer to translate text. Please contact translations@totogeo.org if you would like to be a translator. Finally, feel free to leave a comment!
